Background

The programme was developed with a grant from the Skills Development Fund (SDF) and is approved by the Healthcare Training Advisory Committee of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

The ITE Skills Certificate in Healthcare is issued by the ITE under its service skills training scheme and is recognised by both private hospitals and doctors. It is an excellent way for you to enhance your existing net worth if you are working in a medical clinic, or if you intend to pursue a career in a medical clinic.


Entry Requirements

The programme accepts healthcare assistants who:

  1. have completed at least Secondary 3
  2. are Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents or work permit holders (work permit must be valid until the end of the course).
ITE also provides the following services:

  • Assistance in recruitment of new staff during the annual intake exercises for fresh school leavers.
  • Issuance of Traineeship Certificate to the trainee upon completion of OJT in support of your claim for the additional training grant.

    - Outpatient Care Module    [20 Hours]
    - Clinic Dispensing Module  [40 Hours]
    - Supervised Field Training (SFT) [1880 Hours] conducted at sponsoring clinic

    Certification

    To qualify for the ITE Skills Certificate in Healthcare (Outpatient), the trainee must

    a) complete the following modules (comprising lectures and workshops) and SFT within a one-year period.

    • Basic Healthcare Module (BHCM).
    • Outpatient Care Module and Clinic Dispensing Module (OCCDM).
    • Supervised Field Training (On-the-Job Training) (SFT).

    b) successfully complete the following

    1. CPR Module (upon successful completion of the CPR practical and theory tests, a certification which is valid for 2 years will be issued.)
    2. Supervised Field Training (On-the-Job Training) verified with the submission of Training Logbook
    3. Practical Phase Tests
    4. ITE Theory Examinations

    INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS

    a) SDF Grants

    To be eligible for SDF Training Grants, you must submit application on the SkillsConnect portal (http://www.skillsconnect.gov.sg) within 30 days from the commencement of the course.

    SDF training grant of $7 per trainee-hour is claimable for company-sponsored trainee (who is a Singaporean or Permanent Resident) who attains 75% attendance and has sat for the theory test at the end of each module.

    Current SDF Funding Rates @ $7 per trainee-hour
    Off-the-Job (Lectures) On-the-Job (SFT)
    $840 for 120 hours of lecture/teaching sessions at SMA $1,316 for 188 hours SFT at your clinic.
    (Total SFT hours is 1880 hours. SDF funding is based on 10% of total hours)
