Job Description / Job Responsibilities

As Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director, Operational/Occupational Health, you will be working to develop and provide in-house operational/occupational medicine support for Home Team Departments (HTDs) in their operations and training. This includes developing plans, policies and procedures for the HTD to prevent, reduce and eliminate occupational risks and work-related illnesses and injuries, and to promote employee health. You will also provide expert advice to HTDs on compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.

 

Key Deliverables

 

  1. Develop and implement new medical/health directives for health protection of Home Team (HT) officers with a strong focus on Operational/Occupational Health matters.
  2. Review medical fitness requirements for various frontline vocations in the HT.
  3. Develop and maintain an Occupational Health (OH) Registry to monitor key OH Registry such as services injuries data, cardiovascular events, hospitalisations etc.
  4. Participate in workplace incident investigations as directed by Director/HT Medical Services Division, including conducting of workplace assessments.
  5. Manage regular statistical analysis and updates for reporting.
  6. Develop specific medical support plans where required e.g. inter-agency exercise, overseas training etc.
  7. Develop and implement health education and training programs to improve employee knowledge on heath protection and operational health skillsets e.g. use of PPE.
  8. Coordinates and tracks the provision of training on medical skillsets for HUS e.g. First Aid, CPR, AED, Haemorrhage Control Protocol, Tactical Combat Casualty Care etc.
  9. Timely updates to Senior Management on the health protection KPI of HT officers.
  10. Assist with coordination during medical emergency situations.
  11. Coordinate and manage outside resource/suppliers/vendors for training, supplies, and safety services as needed.
  12. Collaborate with Home Team departments to bring about good ergonomics standards and practices. Conduct ergonomic evaluations and ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  13. Research on relevant best practices that can be adapted for implementation in the HT.
Job Requirements
  • Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registered specialist, preferably in public health and occupational medicine.
  • Tertiary Degree in Environmental Health and Safety/Medicine/Nursing /Occupational or Public Health.
  • Certification in Occupational Health/Workplace Safety and Health preferred.
  • Prior experience in occupational health in a uniformed organisation preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills and attention to detail required. Other personal skills needed include leadership, tact, self-reliance, and sound judgement.
  • Resourceful, independent thinker, and takes initiative.
  • Able to lead/work with multiple stakeholders, forge consensus.
