The Singapore Medical Journal (SMJ) Editorial Fellowship offers early clinician researchers hands-on experience in publishing and editorial work. Fellows learn about study design, data validity, novelty and impact, while reviewing manuscripts under expert mentorship. They also gain the opportunity to co-author an editorial or commentary, building skills and exposure early in their academic journey.
Who should apply?
- The fellowship is open to Singapore-based early clinician researchers from all medical disciplines who are currently in Residency/Senior Residency training, or who are no more than two years from completion of Residency/Senior Residency.
- The candidate should have a keen interest in research and some research experience, including having published at least one original research article as a first author.
What is the duration?
The fellowship is a one-year programme from 1 January to 31 December 2027. (Majority of the programme and mentorship will be remote/online.)

- An updated CV
- A cover letter of no more than 500 words describing your interest in the fellowship, its potential impact on your career, and what you hope to gain from it
- A letter of recommendation from your programme director, supervisor or a senior faculty member
When is the deadline?
Application opens on 1 September and closes on 31 October 2026. Successful applicants will be notified via email by end November 2026.
