MASEAN Meeting 2022

The Medical Association of South East Asian Nations (MASEAN) had a successful meeting in Jakarta from 3 December 2022 to 4 December 2022, with the Indonesian Medical Association (Ikatan Dokter Indonesia) serving as a most gracious host. The theme for the meeting was "Health Sector Recovery after COVID-19 Pandemic". Each participant country shared their pandemic experiences, the roles of their National Medical Associations in the pandemic and how each country planned to emerge stronger from the pandemic.

Singapore has the honour of serving as the Secretariat for MASEAN and chaired the session on Country Reports and the Business Meeting. SMA President Dr Tan Yia Swam, SMA 1st Vice-President Dr Ng Chee Kwan and SMA Honorary Secretary Dr Ng Chew Lip were SMA's representatives for the meeting. Dr Ng CL also serves as the Secretary General for MASEAN. The event was graced by the Indonesian Minister of Health, Mr Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who shared the plans and challenges facing the Indonesian healthcare system with the delegates. The next meeting will be the Midterm Meeting and will be held in Singapore in July 2023, hosted by the SMA.
