MOH Holdings (MOHH) and SMA have come together for the first time to organise the MOHH x SMA House Officer (HO) End of Year Dinner in appreciation of the work done by HOs in 2023. The informal get-together, which saw more than 100 guests in attendance, was held on 1 December 2023 at Peach Garden, a restaurant renowned for its Chinese cuisine.
The emcee welcomed the evening's guests and hosted the night's exciting programme, which included games, entertainment and lucky draw prizes. Interactive icebreakers involving junior doctor (JD) representatives from each table helped to kick the event off to a lively start. Dr Ng Chee Kwan, SMA President, then delivered the event's opening speech (see page 8), sharing insights from his own experiences as a HO almost three decades ago. He also highlighted the valuable programmes and resources provided by the SMA Doctors-in-Training Committee and the SMA Centre for Medical Ethics and Professionalism, including the SMA JD Helpline and the SMA JD workshops.
Apart from other games such as charades-style drawing challenges, the dinner also featured Fakkah Fuzz, the first Singaporean stand-up comedian to have a Netflix special. Fuzz captivated the audience with his witty jokes and charisma, particularly during the 25-minute segment featuring recent events that resonated with the crowd. Fuzz's performance left the crowd laughing and created a jovial and exuberant atmosphere that lasted through the night.
The night concluded with the eagerly awaited lucky draw, featuring prizes such as Apple iPads, Apple Watches SE and Samsung TVs generously sponsored by SMA and MOHH. With joy in their hearts and appreciation for the year's work, our guests bade each other farewell and left for the night.
