On 17 April 2026, SMA Members gathered at Plume Singapore at Singapore Flyer for an evening that blended two things close to Singaporeans' hearts: good durian and good conversation. The Durian Night and Wealth and Legacy Talk, co-hosted with Standard Chartered, brought together 80 Members for a relaxed night of networking, learning and durian indulgence.
Held at Plume Singapore along Marina Bay, the event kicked off at 6.30 pm with registration, light refreshments and the first wave of durians on the table. The casual setting made it easy for Members from different specialties to catch up, swap stories and meet new faces outside the clinic and hospital corridors.
The programme shifted focus at 7.20 pm with the Wealth and Legacy Talk delivered by Standard Chartered. The session addressed practical considerations for doctors at different career stages, from managing personal finances to planning for long-term legacy and wealth transfer. It was a timely reminder that financial well-being is part of holistic well-being, especially for busy clinicians balancing demanding schedules.
Following the talk, Members learned about Standard Chartered's Priority Banking Onboarding Rewards Programme. At about 8 pm, the main durian service began, with platters of premium Mao Shan Wang and Black Pearl served to all Members. The rich, bittersweet Mao Shan Wang and the creamy, slightly bitter Black Pearl were a hit, sparking lively discussions on taste, texture and personal favourites as everyone dug in.
The event wrapped up at about 9 pm, as Members left with both full stomachs and new connections. SMA thanks Standard Chartered for sponsoring this exclusive Members-only evening. With limited spots and high demand, the night underscored how much Members value opportunities that combine professional insight with genuine social connection.
